Diego
Puga is research professor at IMDEA Social Sciences and coordinator
of the research programme PROCIUDAD-CM. He is also co-director
of the International Trade and Regional Economics Programme of
the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a research
affiliate at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He previously
held academic positions at the London School of Economics and
the University of Toronto, and visited Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
His publications include articles in the American Economic
Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and
the Economic Journal. In 2008 received the Fundación
Banco Herrero Prize for his contributions to economic geography,
urban economics, and international trade.

Andrés
Rodríguez Pose heads the Research Group in Geography and
Environment at IMDEA Social Sciences and is professor and head
of the Department of Geography and Environment at the London
School of Economics. He has doctorates in both geography and
political science, and has authored 6 books and over 50 articles,
published in the leading international journals in geography.
He is the only social scientist ever to have received the prestigious
Royal SocietyWolfson Research Merit Award.

Klaus
Desmet is tenured associate professor at the Department of Economics
of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He is also a research affilate
of the International Trade and Regional Economics Programme of
the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He obtained his
PhD from Stanford University and his broad research interests
include economic geography, international trade and economic
growth. His publications include articles in the Economic
Journal, Regional Science and Urban Economics and
the Journal of Economic Geography.

is focused on regional economic development and growth, innovation

Duranton is the Noranda Chair in International Trade and Development
at the University of Toronto, after having held a tenured position
at the London School of Economics. He is also a research fellow
of the International Trade and Regional Economics Programme of

the leading specialists in urban economics, with special focus
on the productivity advantages of cities. His publications include
articles in the American Economic Review and the Review
of Economic Studies.

Nunn is assistant professor of economics at Harvard University
since 2007 having previously been at the University of British
Columbia. Professor Nunn’s primary research interests are
in international trade, economic development, and economic history. He
is an associate editor of the Journal of International Economics
and a faculty research fellow of National Bureau of Economic
Research (NBER). His publications include articles in the Quarterly
Journal of Economics and Journal of Development Economics.
